Bachelor Life…

So I recently got the place to myself (yes, I live with my parents still), and here is what I have learned about the bachelor lifestyle…

1. Doing dishes and laundry is not so bad.  I actually enjoyed these chores.  I have done them in the past of course, but I guess when I am doing them for myself, and not being told to, it can be enjoyable, and satisfying, knowing I don’t have to go out and purchase plastic plates or wear the same jeans for 4 straight days.

2. During a thunderstorm ALWAYS be prepared.  A couple of days in my house lost power and my basement flooded.  This was not a fun time.  Luckily my dad is a brilliant man and had a generator and all the items in the basement of value were up on shelves.  I must remember this for when I have my own place… though I don’t want a basement at all, what a pain.

3. You can never have too much dry goods.  When your power goes out and you have to toss everything from the fridge in the garbage, living off of canned soups and crackers is not so bad.  The tough part was going without milk for a couple of days… BIG FAN OF MILK!!

4. Finally, getting out of the house is key.  If i spent the whole week at home and didn’t leave, I probably would have went crazy.  But I went to a couple of Tigers games and ran some errands.  Kept myself busy with work.  It makes coming home to a clean house that much more worth it.  The highlite of my days was kicking my feet up on the couch and watching reruns of the office and baseball games until midnight.

So- I believe it’s time for me to fly away from the nest… which I have wanted to for some time… but there is still one stabbing issue… money!  Darn education debt!
